Cullen Vineyard was first planted in Margaret River in 1971 by Diana Madeline and Kevin John, Cullen is today considered one of Australia’s true wine treasures. The current owner and senior winemaker Vanya Cullen is a passionate advocate for biodynamic farming and sustainable living and the estate has followed biodynamic practices since 2003, although it has been organic since 1998.
Cullen's Chardonnay ‘Kevin John’ and Cabernet Sauvignon 'Diana Madeline' many argue rival the greatest wines in the world with serious ageing potential. Vanya also makes a pure white Bordeaux blend from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion, as well as a recently created skin contact ‘orange Wine’, Amber. Incidentally, due to the biodynamic practices and the overall good health of the vineyards, the grapes at Cullen are reaching physiological ripeness at a lower Baume hence the recent reduction in alcohol levels in the wines, which many wine lovers welcome.
