Wine Experience '2020 Producer of the Year'
I know it’s a big call, and we don’t make it lightly, but is Bellvale Australia’s best value Chardonnay and Pinot Noir producer at the moment? Personal preferences aside we think they actually might be, which is why as a team we have nominated Bellvale as our ‘2020 Producer of the Year'!
Those who follow our Wine of the Week should know by now that we try not to exaggerate or hype our offers. It wouldn’t be sustainable, so we simply don’t do it.
The Bellvale Chardonnay, for example, is incredibly delicious and flavoursome for a sub $25 dollar Chardonnay. Its popularity is reinforced by the almost cult-like following that it has with our customers, even the aficionados who usually buy and drink Chardonnay at twice or three times the price.
And the Pinot Noir is a textbook example of a Gippsland Pinot with distinct varietal pinosity and immense drinkability you rarely see at this price point. It’s a lovely wine!
Furthermore, this is not a soulless conglomerate wine. The fruit for these wines comes from a family-run, dry grown and hand-picked vineyard in the Tarwin River Valley of South Gippsland, Victoria. The only thing that is puzzling about this lovely Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is how Bellvale owner/winemaker John Ellis can release them at these prices? They are simply dead set bargains in terms of quality and affordability!
