WHY THE NAME TOSQ?
The Vineyard was planted and is worked by the Thompson family - Carl (also known as Thommo), Oscar, Sue and Quinn. The vineyard is tucked into a corner of the Pisa District, Central Otago, close to the Wanaka/Cromwell Highway SH6. Situated on river and glacial terraces, sheltered to some extent from the worst of the cold south winds by ‘Sugarloaf’, a local landmark feature which marks the physical end of a previous glacial advance.

Peppery/brambly characters seasoning ripe red cherry fruit – a pretty start. Lots of scent. Bright flavours, pretty here too, satiny texture with cool red cherry fruit characters, lick of cranberry, splash of tangy pomegranate, lively feel and a creep of firm tannins for shape. A vibrant and lifted CO pinot. It’s amazing how outsiders interpret the region and seem to excel. Really lovely wine, is the message anyway. The Wine Front, 22 February, 2019

Producers notes

Giant Steps focuses exclusively on the distinctive expression of single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley. Grapes are drawn from estate and leased vineyards as well as grapes from long-term contracted growers, supported by strong relationships and meticulous supervision throughout the year. Giant Steps wines are produced fastidiously in the vineyard and vinified with minimal intervention so that each wine is a faithful expression of site, vintage and culture.
