This is a sublime Pinot Noir of the highest order at a phenomenal price.
2023 is another great release from Giant Steps! Ultra attractive, perfumed pinot with soft, silky mouthfeel and huge persistence. This is a blinder of a Pinot from Giant Steps and surely one of the best sub $50 Pinots in the country at the moment. Giant Steps is on fire! Scott
Made without compromise using 100% hand-picked fruit from our meticulously maintained estate vineyards. These wines are produced with wild ferments, gravity-flow winemaking techniques, and minimal fining and filtration. This approach produces highly expressive wines, true to the regional characteristics of the Yarra Valley.
Our notes
The Yarra Valley regional range sources fruit from across the Yarra Valley and is an excellent snapshot of the region in any particular vintage. 2023 was cool and extended, giving the Pinot Noirs bright acid, silky tannins and loads of perfume. This release has everything a Pinot Noir lover could ask for. It's a belter of a wine, and at under $40 a bottle, it outshines many wines three times the price. To say we are Giant Steps fans is an understatement; the evidence is in the glass, stunning wines from one of Australia's genuinely world-class regions for Pinot.

A 50/50% mix of upper and lower Yarra fruit; 35% whole bunches and matured in French oak (10% new). A bright crimson red. After a few good few swirls, aromas of ripe raspberries, black cherries, wild herbs and some crushed violets soon emerge. The palate, though, doesn't need much coaxing, and this silken, sappy wine has excellent depth and persistence. Will be even better six to 12 months from now.

Giant Steps focuses exclusively on the distinctive expression of single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley. Grapes are drawn from estate and leased vineyards as well as grapes from long-term contracted growers, supported by strong relationships and meticulous supervision throughout the year. Giant Steps wines are produced fastidiously in the vineyard and vinified with minimal intervention so that each wine is a faithful expression of site, vintage and culture.
