Lightfoot and Sons is an interesting winery in the eastern Victorian wine region of Gippsland where they produce outstanding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and cool-climate Shiraz. The wines are made by the creative team of Tom Lightfoot and Ex Seville Estate and Brokenwood winemaker Alistaire Butt, who is not afraid to gently push the boundaries of convention in his winemaking techniques, particularly through the use of whole bunch fermentation in the excellent Pinot Noirs.
Otherwise, the wines are crafted in small batches from hand-picked 100% Estate grown fruit, wild yeast fermented, and bottled on-site unfiltered. Look out also for their 'experimental range' 100% whole bunch pinot ‘Renegade’ if you wish to explore Pinot Noir’s wilder side. There’s great winemaking going on here. Definitely a producer to watch!
