Blue Poles
Margaret River - WA
In 1970 the Australian government and The National Gallery spent a Million Dollars and purchased "Blue Poles [Number 11, 1952], an iconic painting by abstract expressionist American Artist Jackson Pollock. This purchase caused public outrage at the time. Fast forward to now, and Blue Poles [the painting] is today worth $350 Million Dollars! Thank you Gough Whitlam.
Anyway this painting was the inspiration behind the naming of this cult Margaret River winery founded in 2001. If you drink and love Bordeaux, and especially wines from the pretty town of St Emilion, then these beautiful wines should be on your radar.
The wines drink beautifully as young wines and will certainly live for at least another 10 years in the cellar. We don’t say this lightly but Blue Poles is a dark horse Australian winery crafting outrageously good Margaret River beauties at reasonable prices. We are very happy with them!
