Bastianich
Friuli - Italy
Bastianich, an Italian American, is well known for his famed Italian Restaurants and food ventures across the globe and is now gaining a reputation for his beautiful Italian wines from Friuli in Northern Italy made under the Bastianich name.
The winery was founded in 1997 on the eastern hills of Friuli and now comprises about 35 acres. The climatic conditions across the Bastianich vineyards vary from the warming influence of the ocean along the hills of Buttrio and Premariacco, to the cooler sites of Cividale del Friuli, pervaded by the cold bora.
Consequently, the wines possess both power and finesse with the Refosco red expressing beautifully ripened dark spicy fruit, held up by an inherent brightness and freshness. Likewise the lovely intensely aromatic Friulano white shows both dense ripe fruit and silky texture as well as bristling minerality and energy.
These wines are new to our store and based on the quality we will be looking at further wines from this excellent Italian producer.
Highly Recommended.
