Aromatic and spicy on the nose, with plenty of roasted blueberries and dried cherries, as well as some lifted violet floral notes. Chinese five spice and Sichuan pepper follows through on the palate which features fine feathery tannins in combination with plenty of generous fruit, finishing with trademark Tasmanian bright freshness.

Stargazer is the first solo project for Samantha Connew, a highly-respected and experienced winemaker and wine show judge. Established in 2012, the name in part pays tribute to Abel Tasman who was the first European to sight Tasmania and the South Island of New Zealand, Connew’s birthplace. Sam purchased the Palisander vineyard in the Tea Tree sub-region of the Coal River Valley in 2016 and has since planted an additional 4ha with the intention of ultimately being 100% estate grown. Sustainability and biodiversity are key Stargazer values, with bees, chickens, olives, sheep and native vegetation corridors part of the mix. Stargazer wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts to both express site or ‘terroir’ and build complexity and texture.
