Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2016 - Tuscany
Bottle size: 750ml
An intense ruby red in color, the Marchese Antinori shows a nose of elegance and finesse marked by aromas of red fruit and liquorice. The palate is soft and supple with solid and perceptible tannins, while the acidity gives the wine a tonic vibrancy and savor, a finish and aftertaste which are both long and focused.
The climate of the 2015 vintage was an extremely regular one and respected, in its various phases and seasons, the typical weather of the Chianti Classico production zone. A cold and relatively dry winter preceded a spring characterized by damp weather in March and April and dry weather in May and June. In this period, temperatures were regular, guaranteeing a perfect growth of vegetation and an excellent phase of flowering and bud set for the grapes.
The summer was a warm one, with peak temperatures in July, but also with highly positive temperature swings from daytime warmth to evening and nighttime coolness which assured a constant growth of the grape bunches free of stress. The month of August, warm as well, was characterized by occasional rainfall which favored a fine onset to the ripening of the crop. The picking took place between mid-September and early October in a climate of dry and breezy weather.
Antinori has been making wine in Tuscany since 1385, putting the word 'experienced' into another dimension. Sangiovese for this wine is grown in the heart of the Chianti Classico region and delivers a wine packed full of red cherry fruit and layers of secondary cinnamon oak spice, tobacco, leather and earth typical of the best wines in the region.
26 Generations: The Antinori family has been making wine for over six hundred years, since Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always personally managed the business making innovative, sometimes courageous choices, always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. Today Marchese Piero Antinori is director of the company, assisted by his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, who are personally involved in the business. The qualities of tradition, passion and instinct have made Antinori one of the leading Italian producers of fine quality wines. Every vintage, every terroir, every idea is a new beginning, a new quest to raise our quality margins.
