The Champagne depicts a dress with a strong green yellow colour with pale lemon yellow hints. Of a rather fluid and shining aspect, it is lively with fine and vivid bubbles which create a delicate bottle-neck.

The first nose reveals a flavour of hawthorn and acacia, wet chalk, peppermint, green apple, fresh grapes with a touch of anise. When aerated, it turns to notes of whipped cream, chives, lemon zests and yellow grapefruit with a pinch of nutmeg.

The approach in the palate is soft and fresh with a creamy and melted effervescence. The wine develops a sensation of citrus pulp, apple and pear flesh, enhanced by zesty aromas which bring freshness to the whole. The mid-palate is orchestrated with a very pure chalky minerality. The final is dressed with a fleshy fruity combined with the chalky elegance and a subtle dosage, to deliver an ultimate sensation of creamy and iodized melt.

Our notes

Every year we sit down and taste as a team and decide on a Champagne that we are happy to call our ‘Champagne of the Year’. Usually, we steer clear of the big brands [as good as they are] and search for small artisanal Grower Champagne producers that we feel add a level of interest and excitement to our Champagne range.

This year we landed on this beautiful affordable Champagne crafted in the Sezannais by a cooperative of small growers who own their own vineyards and band together to craft this stunning Blanc de Blancs, rather than sell off their precious fruit to the big houses.

It sees 4 years of ageing prior to disgorgement which is more than most Non-Vintage Champagnes giving it a complexity rarely found in a Champagne at this price. It also sees Malolactic fermentation which gives it that delicious lemon butter character.

It’s a very delicate refined Blanc de Blancs showing just ripe stonefruit and tart apple/pear juice alongside brisk lemon butter, flinty chalk and complex brioche and yeasty autolysis notes. It is so fine and pure as only a good Blanc de Blancs can be delivering the refinement you expect in good Champagne without compromising flavour.

Outstanding value and quality that we feel will light up any celebration this Xmas!

This gorgeous Blanc de Blancs is a great find for us…!
