Aphelion The Affinity GMS 2018 - McLaren Vale
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
A blend of 3 parcels of Blewitt Springs Grenache, 4 parcels of McLaren Vale Mataro and 3 parcels of McLaren Vale Shiraz result in a wine with oodles of complexity. Good roundness of fruit flavour on the mid-palate leads to a savoury finish with powdery tannin.
All ten parcels that make up this wine were fermented and aged separately before blending. The Grenache components come from 3 separate Blewitt Springs vineyards. Whole bunch and whole berry ferments were used. The Mataro parcels are from 3 separate vineyards, with some whole bunch, some pre-ferment cold soak and some 3-month extended maceration used.
The Shiraz components are from 2 separate but very close by vineyards – one higher in elevation and picked earlier, the other picked later. A portion of this lower elevation ferment was kept on skins for 4 months. The wine was then matured for 9 months in neutral French hogsheads prior to bottling in December 2018. Unfined & unfiltered.

Producers notes
Straight out of the blocks, this new wine label established in 2014 by husband and wife Rob and Louise Mack has already gained a strong reputation for quality and value. Pedigreed winemaker Rob Mack concentrates on grape varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale, producing stylish Grenache as well as other regionally emerging varieties, such as Mataro and Sagrantino.
They craft their wines to match the foods they love to eat - Italian, Mediterranean, and Asian. It starts with the sun and the earth. Aphelion Wine Co.’s growers are passionate about producing premium, hand tended grapes from only the most select, unique parcels of land.

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
