Adelina’s Watervale Riesling is a blend of two vineyards: blocks G10 and G11 from the Gullyview vineyard, planted in 2001 on red loamy clay over limestone; and (as of 2019) the Kloock vineyard, north of Watervale, with light brown loam over limestone. A bit of history… John Vickery sourced fruit from blocks at Gullyview for some of the legendary Leo Buring Rieslings of the 1970s.
So, we’re talking about quality Clare real estate here. As for the wine, the fruit was destemmed and crushed before pressing, the free-run juice then settled, racked and fermented. The 2022 finished with a smidge of residual: 3.7 g/L to balance the prodigious acidity of 9.52 g/L. The result is classic Watervale—aromatic and seductive with scents of lemon peel, makrut lime and white flowers leading to an exuberant, pulpy palate driven by piercing acidity and citrus briskness. It’s long, incisive and intense—and numbers among our favourite releases of this bottling.

We are a small vineyard and winery in the Springfarm sub-region of Clare, set amongst one of the most historically relevant winery and vineyards in Australia. We have small plantings of well established Shiraz, Grenache and Pedro Ximenez, also recently established Shiraz and Mataro. We also work with a very small group of growers in Clare and the Adelaide Hills whom grow fruit for our non-estate wines. The winery is rustic in a sense of mod-cons and mechanisation, where the most elaborate piece of equipment would be the coffee machine.

Cases are also delivered free of charge, as are any subsequent bottles ordered in addition to the case. The case size is displayed on the product page (i.e. 3, 6 or 12).
