Winemaker Steve Crawford (the man behind Frederick Stevenson wines and also Giovanni Armani Giorgio wines) is one of the creative and innovative contemporary stylist that are starting to shake things up in the Barossa. His wines are modelled on the light to medium-bodied beauties Steve found and loved whilst travelling through Europe, delicious bistro-style wines that are crafted in a natural unhurried fashion and consumed without too much fuss in good wine bars and restaurants on a daily basis. 

His Dry Red is a stunning example built around sexy Cinsault, with Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre in support. It’s medium bodied with the fruit driving the palate showing lovely texture, vibrancy and quiet complexity. The vineyards are mostly biodynamic and the wine is whole bunch fermented in concrete using wild yeasts, left to hang out on skins for a while, then later matured in old 500 litre oak barrels, and bottled with minimal sulphur additions. 

It’s incredibly delicious and satisfying, and as Mike Bennie from WINEFRONT rightly points out, "outrageously good for the bucks”.  

This is the kind of under the radar cutting edge vinous beauty we like to put in front of our customers. And we recommend it very highly indeed…!
