The palate mirrors the style of fresh and vibrant aromas, whilst showing softness with juicy strawberry fruits and supportive sappy fine tannins from careful stalk management. The fruit was handpicked and de-stemmed, allowing for the retention of whole berries, open-fermented in small one-ton vats. Varying levels of whole bunches were included in the ferments ranging from 25% - 100%, this aided structure and spice to the wine. Minimal maceration during fermentation was adopted to produce an elegant wine style. Matured in French barriques with 15% new oak to achieve complexity and length to the wine.

Our notes

It’s light to medium weight exuding beautiful pinosity on both nose and palate with delicious spicy sour cherry fruit and subtle forest floor savoury earthy characters. It’s alive with great vitality and acidity and responds nicely to a slight chill in this warmer weather. Totally fulfils that Pinot Noir fix at this price. Lovely stuff indeed…  CR

Lovely pinot noir. Both sweet and sour but mellifluous. Macerated cherry flavours, florals, woodsy spices and a velvety aspect to the palate's texture. It feels seamless, composed, harmonious.

Producers notes

The Artisan Series by Murdoch Hill is an exclusive range of handmade wines. These wines are made in small batches from a diverse range of vineyard sites throughout the Adelaide Hills.

Michael crafts the wines from vineyard to bottle using a minimalistic approach, utilising indigenous yeast, whole bunch fermentation and extended skin contact to best express the fruit and unique characters of each distinguished vineyard.

Our family has been farming the fertile soils of the Onkaparinga Valley since 1939 and in this time there have been many cattle grazing, hens laying, potatoes grown, flowers picked and since 1998 we have been passionately caring for our vines, and making great wines.
