Vintage 2023 was similar to Vintage 2022, with a later than usual start. The impact of the La Nina weather pattern resulted in very modest yields, due to the lower bunch and berry sizes. The upside is that this lower quantity has resulted in excellent quality across all wine styles. This wine has delicate aromas of lemon juice, grapefruit pith and white flowers. The palate is intense, lemon, lime and ruby grapefruit flavours all featuring. Lovely chalky acidity extends the finish and provides a cleansing finale to this wine. There is a delightful lightness to this wine, which bodes well for its ability to match food. Think sushi, fried Tasmanian scallops or even a plate of Angasi (native Tasmanian oysters, served natural). While enjoyable now, our 2023 Riesling will also reward careful cellaring.

Overt baked lemon-pudding, honey and spicy cool-grown aromas; the palate is full and pillowy, almost blowsy, but powering through the centre is a shivering line of acidity. This makes you sit up straight! A piercing riesling that will benefit from bottle-age and is full of potential.

Bream Creek Vineyard is one of the pioneers of the modern Tasmanian wine industry. Our 7.5ha vineyard at Marion Bay in the south-east of Tasmania was originally planted in 1974, making it one of the oldest commercial vineyards on the island. Fred Peacock purchased the vineyard in 1990 and expanded the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plantings, as well as introducing Sauvignon Blanc. Fred also planted what was arguably the first commercial planting of the rare German grape variety Schonburger in the southern hemisphere.
