Very deep, dense red. Showcasing bright, attractive floral notes, cherry, oyster shell, leafy stalks and redcurrant, all typical of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. A very defined and composed wine with engaging ripe fruits on the palate. Medium to full depth with a densely layered structure delivering a prominent yet silky tannin profile.

This has a very impressive sense of composure, offering a very attractive, cedary and floral nose with deep violets and a wealth of forest wood, bracken and blueberries, as well as plums. The palate has intensely ripe, assertive fruit flavors with a succulent, dense and rich delivery of black-cherry, cassis and blackberry flavors. Density with focus and a strong drive at the finish. Long and juicy with real freshness. A blend of 71% Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon and 29% Barossa shiraz. Drink or hold.

Magnificent in every sense. Perfume, poise, tension, length, detail. Fruit, spice, savouriness. Strong elements of Coonawarra so evident with the seasoning of Barossa lending judicious character. Scents of cassis, kirsch, a booze-soaked berry experience, fennel, brown spice, turned earth and herbs. Superb. Slippery and long, seamless flow, tannins fine and spreading in a web that draws the wine into long distance mode even as they draw the wine to very, almost uncomfortably tight. Finishes lifted and fresh. Wow stuff. 2045+ The Wine Front, 19 May 2021

Producers notes

Throughout Barossa and Coonawarra, pockets of carefully tended vines have been hand-selected to provide the fruit for our very best and most sought-after wines. Crafted only when all the elements of viticulture and winemaking interact perfectly, our Rare & Fine wines are the very best examples of the varieties and blends that have found a natural home here in Australia during the past five generations.

A complex nose with lovely aromatics. Cedar scents meld with tones of pomegranate, wild strawberries, violets and red petals. Restrained in its flavour but fine in texture with great concentration. Give it a year or two before splashing in the decanter to reveal its beauty, but if you're patient over the medium term its full potential will be realised.

There’s a very direct feel to this grenache, from a parcel planted in the 1880’s. The fresh, red-floral perfume and the raspberry and redcurrant aromas are so beautifully fresh. The palate has directness, intensity, focus and elegance with a very vibrant, gently tart red-fruit core. Holds long, pure and fresh. Drink or hold. James Suckling, 25 Jun 2019
