Deep, dark, purple-red. Bright, intriguing, fine and complex. A touch of currents, leaf and herb followed by cool, fresh spices, iodine and cedar. A mouthful of richness, texture and depth, yet cool with a line of Coonawarra peppermint. The acidity and fine tannins show their support and precision.

CELLARING: Built to spend many years in the cellar, The Caley takes time to reveal its true character. The wine will drink beautifully in 5-30 years plus. If opened as a younger wine we recommend double decanting prior to serving.
2014 The Caley 14%: “The odd year, I guess”, quips KG, “2014 was shaping up to be pretty good but some rainfall in February really slowed things down, but the end result was a wine of depth and power, particularly in the last few years”. It’s 82% Coonawarra cabernet, 18% Barossa shiraz. It screams Coonawarra cabernet but with added dimension. Epic. Scents of blueberries, cassis, mint, eucalyptus, dried leaves, new leather. Wonderful, evocative stuff. So much structure, savouriness, very fennel and truffle and green herb to taste, darker fruits in the palate, soft mid-palate an absolute delight fleshing out that medium weight, tense and taut cabernet energy. It’s so beautiful, athletic, long and straight up delicious. 96+ points, to 2045+
A blend of 82% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Barossa Shiraz, Yalumba's 2014 The Caley leans heavily toward Cabernet on the nose, boasting scents of mint, cassis and cocoa. In the mouth, the Shiraz helps round out the full-bodied palate and lends a velvety edge to the considerable tannins. From Block D of Yalumba’s Menzies vineyard, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon (82%) drives this third iteration of the estate's flagship wine. Impeccable, fine-grained tannins and scintillating blackcurrant and red cherry fruit, with cedar, black tea and tobacco lift, give line and length. Barossa Shiraz (from two 1970s-planted vineyards in the eastern ranges and Eden Valley) augments, with concentrated layers of spiced plum, chocolate and earth. In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
