Originally a single vineyard wine made from Shiraz and Malbec, Yellow Hammer Hill was created to supply restaurants with a wine that had all the hallmarks of Wild Duck Creek Estate. Since then, Yellow Hammer Hill has grown to be a blend of up to 10 different vineyards in the Heathcote region, and comprising predominately Shiraz, with varying volumes of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a wine that is supremely complimentary to most food styles.

The Wine Front
Just a splash of cabernet. The rest 80/20 let’s say. Young Liam Anderson at the helm of winemaking these days. Some subtle shifts in the freight train of wine styles has resulted. This feels like an incredible bargain – a compelling wine, in a fuller style, for the bucks. It bests so many concocted, big reds under $30. Lavish bouquet of dark berries, chocolate, jelly babies, blackcurrant pastilles. Pastilles to taste, light spice, satiny feel, fine taninns and a ripple of Jaffa choc-orange to finish. Really well balanced, gulpable fuller, fleshy red wine. Delightful.

Producers notes

Wild Duck Creek Estate is a small family run winery, situated 8kms South-west of the Heathcote township along the Wild Duck Creek. David and Diana Anderson’s passion was realized in 1991, where we produced 2 wines. We now produce 5 wines annually, and six other special and rare wines that we produce only in vintages that allow us, using only traditional winemaking methods such as open fermenters, basket pressing and long-term barrel ageing.

Our passion is for boldly flavoured fruit-driven wines that can be consumed young or cellared for many years. Our first vines were planted in 1979 by David and Diana Anderson, which is now known as ‘The Alan’s Vineyard’. The 'Original Vineyard' was planted in 1988 on Diana's parents block. As of 2006 we have 34 acres spread over 4 different vineyards, and we have 6 other long term growers who have been providing extremely high quality fruit for us since 1994.

Our own vineyards are in the process of being converted to Biodynamic. Our only objective is to produce outstanding wines of balance and power that give the consumer as much satisfaction and delight as we get making them!

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
