Whistler Atypical Shiraz 2022 - Barossa Valley
Closure: Screw Cap
Bottle size: 750ml
Double Trophy winner at the 2023 Marananga Wine Show! Trophy for Wine of Show - Trophy for Best Shiraz 2022 or younger
Wow! What a lovely Barossa Shiraz Michael Corbett (from Vanguardist fame) has crafted for Whistler wines, already picking up two Trophies at the Marananga Wine Show for 'Wine of Show" and "Best Shiraz 2022 or Younger" at the Tanunda Cellars Competition.
It's beautifully fragrant like all Michaels wines, dark fruited and satisfying in true Barossa style, but also light on its feet, loaded with rich plum, boysenberry, dark cherries and a touch of wild herbs from a bit of whole bunch.
This style of Barossa Shiraz, led by innovative winemakers like Michael Corbett and Callum Powell, is rewriting the Barossa history books and introducing wine lovers in wine bars all over Australia to an alternative take on this important region and grape variety.
Jump on the train. This Barossa Shiraz is beautiful to drink! Bargain...

Reviews
I don’t know, but I reckon I’m liking 2022 in the Barossa over 2021. Kind of less overt in fruitiness. Blue fruit, spice, aniseed, black olive. Medium-bodied, fleshy and juicy in red and black fruit, plenty of spice, dried herbs, cool acidity, a pleasing chewiness to tannin, and a gently saline and savoury finish of fine length. Has energy and interest, and drinks so well. Really like this.

Producers notes
Located on the golden stretch of Seppeltsfield Road in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Whistler Wines was established in 1997 and is now in the hands of the 2nd generation, Sam Pfeiffer. Whistler’s 15 hectares of vineyards operate completely under organic and biodynamic practices and all of the wines are vegan-friendly due to the fact that no fining takes place during the winemaking process.
