Tramontane Grenache 2019 - Cotes Catalanes
Bottle size: 750ml
Old Grenache vines in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Powerful but smooth, with no oak ageing and a long maceration to extract structure, this wine is a true reflection of terroir
It leaps from the glass with swirling aromas of dark-skinned berries and a little wild herb savouriness, a characteristic the French call ‘Garrigue’, after the fragrant herbs and shrubbery that populate this special sun-kissed region and seemingly finds expression in the local wines.
This wine is full of character, immense charm and beautiful delicious dark berry Grenache flavours in a medium to full-bodied style. Despite the apparent weight of the wine, it still remains alive and full of energetic natural acidity. It’s also hand-harvested from organic vineyards, and only contains 24ppm of free sulphur, which is very low. There is no oak influence but structure is built around a long maceration and extraction. Lovely wine! CR
In 2006 Phillippe Gard (of Coume del Mas) and Andy Cook (former importer, retailer and wine judge in Scotland) launched the Tramontane range of wines in the Roussillon area of the Langedoc. Andy trained in winemaking in New Zealand and handles each harvest with a focus on the pure expression of variety. The resulting wines are pristine and vivid, brushed with energetic natural acidity.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
