The 2017 vintage of this wine was a knockout. At least for us geeks here at the Wine Experience, it was one of last years real highlights in French wine.

Well, the much anticipated 2018 has now arrived, and although it is quite different to the 2017, it’s a beauty! 2018 is more energetic than its brooding structural savoury predecessor, expressing vitality and purity of fleshy primary fruit that makes it impossible to keep your hands off. There’s a riot of silky focused cherry/raspberry infused with mineral/ironstone/savoury nuances wrapped in grippy (fruit derived) tannins that gently guide the lingering peacock tail on the wildly perfumed finish. Flat out delicious!

Our notes

Lovely Beaujolais from the masters at Chateau Thivin!

The Wine Front
"Has a kind of stony aroma, latent cranberry whiffs, touch of mushroom but mostly chalk and stone. Fleshy in the palate but retains lightness of fruit flavour and weight – a kind of gossamer spread in the mouth, fresh, just ripe cherry flavours. It’s what you’d call A Savoury Wine but you get the gist that just ripe fruit has a place here. Lithe, sinewy wine of good character and detail. I like it.”

Producers notes

Like the vine, our roots have been in this vineyard for many generations; we are proud to perpetuate and maintain the work initiated by our ancestors. This continuity gives a deep meaning to our activity and a responsibility towards the future of this corner of France.

We pay particular attention to our floors, a real cradle and source of character for our wines. A healthy and alive soil allows the vine to draw the essence of the soil. So the farming methods are adapted according to the characteristics of each parcel and the weather of the vintage.

Natural grassing, the establishment of flowering strips, eco-grazing by our sheep, light plowing under the vines, as well as regular inputs of compost and natural products to stimulate the defense of the vine, are all cultivation techniques that help us maintain and improve the biological activity of our soils.

We are constantly seeking to optimize our cultural practices, to ensure a perfect balance of the vineyard ecosystem with healthy vines and grapes of optimal quality, which faithfully reflect their origin.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
