Thick as Thieves Driftwood Pinot Noir/Gamay - Yarra & King Valley
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
A blend of Yarra Valley Pinot (50%) and King Valley Gamay (50%). Both ferments were 100% whole bunch. The Yarra Pinot was a ‘no touch’ ferment which results in huge ‘carbonic maceration’ inputs to the wine. Natural malo-lactic fermentation. No fining or filtration. Bottled late June 2019 under screw cap. Serve chilled in the Summer months.
Super complex nose starting with dried herbs, strawberry and cinnamon, then opening up to beetroot, plum and fennel. Orange rind, earth and tomato leaf in the background.
Bright and juicy mouthfeel with great depth and velvety tannins. Plump mid palate with a lovely plum and earthy back palate. Wonderful line and length. Beautifully rustic and delicious.
Thick as Thieves is a one-man, Yarra based operation and that one-man is a guy named Syd.
After 10 years in winemaking, working for some of the Yarra’s top producers during that time, Syd’s oenological clock started ticking and he decided the time was right to make his own babies.
Not having to answer to bean counters and marketing departments, Thick as Thieves has the freedom to experiment with alternative varieties and styles which means Syd gets to make interesting wines that he loves to drink, not wines that simply sell or are in vogue.
We could list the university qualifications, international travel history and the resume but really … who cares ??!! Thick as Thieves is about the wine in the bottle.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
