The nose is floral and lifted, showing waxy white flowers; gardenias and jasmine.

In the background is pink grapefruit and kaffir lime spiciness. The acid provides structure, drive and backbone to the palate, while the tangy exit is balanced with a judicious touch of residual sugar.

Hand harvested in two picks, both pickes were destemmed and left in contact with skins for about eight hours prior to gentle pressing. The majority was a wild fermented (by indigenous yeasts) in stainless steel over a month; 25% was fermented in older wild oak. The stainless-steel ferments were arrested on 7 June 2019 and left on lees for close to three months with lees stirring fortnightly.

James Halliday Wine Companion
JAMES HALLIDAY 96 Points A single vineyard sourcing, fermented wild: the wont of this estate which, to be frank, is no longer an up and coming address but a freight train on express mode. The wines are beautiful. This is no exception, with the courage to assuage riesling's high voltage acidity with a dollop of residual sugar, a brave one, as much as it is sensible. Talc, citrus allusions all, ripe apple. Nothing sweet and sour. The wine sits in the glass knowing that it is going to stun: limpid, gently viscous and strident across the mouth, expanding across every crevice, bud and pore. An Australian benchmark with longing glimpses toward the variety's soulful Germanic home. James Halliday Wine Companion 2021, 1 August, 2020

Producers notes

Stargazer pays tribute to Abel Tasman, who, as an explorer and navigator, must have spent a fair amount of time gazing towards the heavens. Tasman, a Dutchman under the employ of the United East India Company was the first European to sight Tasmania (on 24 November 1642) and then the South Island of New Zealand, nineteen days later on 13 December.

He is a natural link for me, having been born and bred a South Islander, and now having fallen in love with another island, Tasmania. The opportunity to work with pristine fruit to craft the wines that I am passionate about in an environment of extraordinary beauty is really all I have ever wanted to do as a winemaker.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
