This Shiraz is blended from three of the Koomilya property's Shiraz blocks. Varying vine age, clone and cuttings all contribute to a wine of depth, unique character and complexity. This is an exceptional expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz, with meaty/charcuterie notes backing the generous red fruit, Christmas cake spice with hints of turkish delight. Gentle but concentrated, medium plus palate weight and rich with substance. This is a wine with poise, balance and a silky, elegant texture.

First planted in the late 1800s by the Hardy family, the vines in the Koomilya vineyard are now 70 years old. It is in the Blewitt Springs sub-region, with more sand in the soil than other McLaren Vale sites.

The Shiraz fruit had a long maceration period and underwent open top fermentation. It was then transferred to a four year old 2,700 litre French oak vat and a three year old French puncheon to age for 16 months with no racking.

Producers notes

S.C.Pannell the label was established by Steve and wife Fiona in 2004, but Steve's journey to winemaking really dates back to 1969, where as a toddler he grew up on one of Australia's most iconic boutique wineries, Moss Wood in the Margaret River.

The S.C.Pannell winery was realised to focus on Stephen’s passion for the McLaren Vale region and its ability to produce dry - grown and environmentally sustainable Shiraz and Grenache.

In 2014 a new home was established at 60 Olivers Rd McLaren Vale, including cellar door, restaurant, and wedding venue.

Steve's holistic philosophy to winemaking starts with our climate, empahasises the importance on the vineyard, as well as wine's relation to food we love to grow, cook, and eat.

Shipping

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
