Saint Damien Plan de Dieu Cote du Rhone 2018 - Rhone Valley
Bottle size: 750ml
Domaine Saint-Damien is run by Joel and Amie Saurel. The Saurel family had been tending vineyards for four generations, dating back to 1821, and until recently selling all of the grapes to negociants. In 1996 Joel resumed producing wine at the estate and in 1998 they brought on consulting winemaker Philippe Cambie.
Vinification is classic with wines being made in large old cement tanks and aged in either those cement tanks or large old foudres for the Gigondas’. Today the estate is comprised of 24 hectacres of vineyards of which half are in Gigondas. The vines are an average age of 50 years and are very low yielding. Their Gigondas wines are bottled according to individual terroir (soil type) known as the Saint Damien Trilogy Enjoy…!
It’s a blend of Grenache [80%] and Mourvedre [20%] and in 2018 the fruit is just so lovely with pretty Grenache at the fore and gentle gamey/spicy notes from the Mourvedre. Yes, the fruit in this wine is attractive but there’s still plenty of that wild garrigue, dried herb, savoury earth character that so many people love in the wines of Saint Damian. It smells like the South of France… and would accompany all manner of Mediterranean dishes like roasted eggplant and spiced meatballs. I drank it on its own and found it absolutely delicious. Highly Recommended.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
