This Pinot Noir is off the charts beautiful for the money and a serious contender for best value Pinot Noir of the year.   If you love Yarra Valley Pinot, this is the wine for you.

A blend of three vineyards.  Willowlake (cooler southern end of the valley), Vally View (the warmer end) and Harriet’s vineyard (south of Healesville, it lies somewhere between the other two in it’s geography and climate).

Our notes

We are always on the hunt for that rarest of offerings... a sub-$30 Pinot Noir that over delivers. The 2021 Rob Hall Pinot Noir release is just that!

Growing up in the Yarra Valley, Rob Hall had some of the country's greatest wines at his fingertips. He cut his teeth at iconic Mount Mary as winemaker from 2002 to 2011, and then worked for a few years at Kellybrook before launching his own eponymous label ‘Rob Hall Wine’. It is not surprising then that the man who crafted some of Australia’s finest wines would continue on that trajectory of quality with his own wines.

This Pinot Noir is off the charts beautiful for the money. It displays awesome pinosity rarely found in a Pinot at this price, lovely silkiness, purity, and is awash with savoury, medium-weight, darker spectrum fruit. There’s great energy in this wine. It really is something… delicious and serious at the same time.

Producers notes

I grew up in Healesville, and did a little bit of summer work in vineyards, starting in '91. In '99 I started working in wineries full time. I only occasionally look back and wonder 'what was I thinking?'

My first few years in wine were spent at Yarra Ridge and Punt Road, grunt work mostly.

From 2002-11 I was fortunate to serve in the role of winemaker at the revered Mount Mary Vineyard. Despite 10 vintages there, it went by in a flash. The first few years were nerve-wracking, in my opinion I was too green for the role, I wasn't going to knock it back though.

Then 3 years at Kellybrook Winery, a great experience with a good friend, and simultaneously starting my own label, before taking the leap into fulltime self-employment in 2014.
