Rieslingfreak No.2 Polish Hill River Riesling 2020 - Clare Valley
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
We all thought 2019 was the warmest and driest vintage on record, until we got to 2020! Well 2020 ended up being the driest year on record, but we were fairly fortunate in terms of temperature. Right up until the end of December, we had high temperatures, in the 40’s. Just hot and dry! Then come January, temperatures cooled down, and we hovered around the low 30’s and mid 20’s until harvest. Water on the other hand was non-existent for most of the growing season. We had not seen rain for months. Then come the 31st January, we had up to 62mm of rain, setting up the grapes nicely for harvest. As this was really the only worthy rains for the year, crops levels were way down. Although we had low crop levels, the cool change in weather allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, holding great natural acidity, right up to harvest.
Rieslingfreak is the inspiration of John Hughes, a man who is very passionate about his rieslings. The first vintage of the brand was in 2009, with a single vineyard Clare Valley Riesling. Since then, the label has expanded to include Eden Valley and Polish Hill River regions.
The brand philosophy is to represent the hallmarks of a single region with their iconic winemaking style. Each Rieslingfreak wine is allocated an individual number. This number represents not only the region in which the fruit was grown, but also the style and technical specifications with which the wine is made.
Rieslingfreak is about providing consumers with a range of specially crafted rieslings embracing both different regions and styles. It is only released from vintages considered worthy.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
