Fruit was sourced from the estate vineyard and four more sites across the Canberra District and Hilltops region (Murrumbateman, Young and Harden), with an average vine age of 18 years. The altitude ranges between 500 and 600m and the soil composition varies, from decomposed granite to red loamy clay.
The fruit was processed as whole berries with no pumps used, and saw wild fermentation and three weeks on skins. It was then pressed to four- and five-year-old French oak casks where it rested for 10 months on lees before it was bottled unfiltered.

Bryan Martin is one of Australia’s most talented and exciting winemakers, and the release of his regional Sangiovese each year is one of the hottest on the calendar. The 2022 release cements the place as Australia’s best value Sangiovese. It’s a juicy, mid weighted wine with sheer drinkability at the forefront. A beautiful medium bodied wine that carries fragrant dark cherry, floral and spice aromas with a fine textural palate - in other words, this is the ultimate pizza and pasta wine. Drink it with anything tomato based, and you will be rewarded!

This represents the 20th vintage for Bryan Martin's sangiovese. I reckon he has the knack now. There’s a lovely fragrance and such delightful fruit in this, all red cherries and barberries with splashes of blood orange and amaro. Tannins are spot-on, all textural, shapely and mouthcoating, while the juicy acidity seals the deal. Drink by 2030.

We've stepped up the production this year, not an easy thing to accomplish given the demand for the variety. There's six different vineyards from Hall, Murrumbateman, Hilltops and Gundagai contributing this year. A beautiful medium bodied wine that carries fragrant cherry and spice aromas with a fine textural palate. Our fourteenth vintage and just getting better and better with vine age and us getting the smarts.
