Philippa Farr Pinot Noir 2018 - Gippsland
Bottle size: 750ml
The final product1 in the fermeter looked great, which allowed me to continue using wild ferment techniques and 30% whole bunch to produce structure and complexity. The ferment took off faster than normal due to the outside temperature and was over and done in just over two weeks. Clean, nutrient rich fruit, and happy yeast, meant no need to intervene, with the ferment reaching a perfect 32 degrees, plunging the cap down just enough to maintain a wet cap. Then into 30% new french oak, the wine was racked twice over 17 months before going to bottle, with no filtration.
2014 was a huge year for Philippa Farr, despite a tiny harvest. Unfortunately, 2014 saw the smallest product1ion of Philippa Farr Pinot Noir to date, however this was a blessing as the third generation Farr winemaker was on its way. Cementing Gippsland now in Philippa’s heart as home, the arrival of a little girl in September 2014 was very exciting.
Growing up in Bannockburn, Victoria, on a small sheep and vineyard property, she was surrounded by people whose lives revolved around vineyards. Philippa had an appreciation for fine wine from an early age.
In 2003, Philippa immersed herself in vintage life at Brokenwood, where after completing her 1st year of a Bachelor of Wine Science, she returned to work full time and study part time, completing vintage 2004 and 2005.
Just to ensure her childhood upbringing on a sheep farm was not her true passion, she pursued a farming career in the following years. This is how she found herself in Gippsland, though the continuing thirst for wine experiencesaw her complete vintages at Bellvale, Bouzeron, Domaine Dujac, By Farr and Purple Hen.
After 4 years of living in Gippsland, Philippa seized the opportunity to make her first Gippsland Pinot Noir 2012.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
