Elegant, fine, restrained and brimming with red fruits and exotic spice. One of our 3 pillars of the Great Southern. This wine redefines Frankland River and illustrates the elegance and finesse fruit from this region can achieve. There is an ethereal calmness to this wine that evokes a strong desire to look deeper into the ever-evolving aromas in the glass. Made with an emphasis on minimal intervention, this wine captures the imagination from the very first. Only 50 dozen were made.

This truly is an exquisite Syrah made in tiny volumes of only 50 dozen, and we were lucky enough to secure an allocation to offer to our clients.

Exquisite wine. An exercise in precision as much as it is in power. Peppers, roasted cherries, sweet cedar, diced twigs and boxes of spices. This is a medium-weight wine but both its presence and its tension are plugged into an amplifier. It tastes important. It makes you concentrate. There's a silken aspect to the tannin but there's a graininess there too; it feels both analog and digital. There are also undergrowth notes here, soil-like, as if ripe, squishy berries have been dug up from the ground and tossed straight into wood. Wow. Life. Living. This is a wine.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ALL THINGS WINE.
There’s a lot of guff and bad wines out in the world and my main focus is to avoid these as much as possible! Conversely the wine industry has taken me to some of the most beautiful places on earth, Priocca, The Rhinegau, Santa Ynez, Abruzzo, Rawsonville, Paphos and Narayangon to name a few, and given me the opportunity to drink some of the most amazing wines and meet people who live and breathe wine. From drinking way too many Cypriot coffees with Alexis in Cyprus and being bribed with 10kg of halloumi to take growers fruit, to eating mosbolletjies on the stoop with DuToit and drinking way too much brandy and coke…or going out with crazy Germans all night and reporting for duty at 5am the next day with a new tattoo. These wine experiences and people have helped shape me as a human and appreciator of all things wine and life. Outside of the Great Southern, we now run a small winemaking project in Piemonte (Northern Italy) and it’s here we like to escape to once pruning at Karriview has finished. Our girls are the next gen winemakers and I can only hope what we have put in, they get out.
