Oltretorrente Colli Tortonesi Rosso - Piedmont
Bottle size: 750ml
This wine is comprised of nine parts Barbera to one part Dolcetto which spends eight month in cement tanks (rather than oak barrels), lending it an impressive vitality.
Notes of sweet cherry, cassis, crushed flowers and potpourri emanate from the glass. The palateis savoury. The fruit is crunchy expressing blueberry, plum and some red berries that intertwine with fresh earth notes and light, fine tannin.
Italian-style stews and braises such as rabbit with olives or braised duck.
Oltretorrente vineyards are located in Paderna in the evocative hilly area of Tortona. The winery estate extends for about 3 hectares of vineyards facing north and south and predominantly planted with Barbera. The uniqueness of the wines of Oltretorrente is due to the characteristics of the plants. While the vineyards of clones are derived from new plants, all the old vines of Oltretorrente are different from each other and were selected 60 years ago in the same environment in which they are grown today. They maintain the link between plant and territory, so the resulting wine is something unable to be reproduced elsewhere.
The harvest is done by hand in small stable units to select and collect only the healthiest grapes and to take them in the wine cellar perfectly intact.
The organic methods significantly reduce the yields, but this is of benefit to the complexity and structure of wines: in fact the old vines produce less but the plants are more balanced and grapes are richer and deeper in their characteristics.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
