Beautiful pale gold colour. On the nose, we perceive a rich, powerful and complex wine with hazelnut aromas. On the palate, the wine is very powerful, with a very strong minerality linked to the very high level of active limestone present in the soil. Very long persistence in the mouth. Optimum tasting: from 3 to 10 years.
Our notes
We tasted this beauty recently are absolutely loved the tension and salty finish. Awesome and affordable white burgundy. Scott
Allen Meadows - Burghound
Ripe aromas include those of pear and apple compote, just sliced lemon and a barely perceptible application of wood. The rich, succulent and seductively textured flavors possess very good mid-palate density along with better depth and persistence. This generously proportioned effort is very good for its level and worth checking out and in particular it would make a good choice for an all-around house white. *Outstanding!* (10/2022)
92 points Vinous
Bottled just prior to my visit, the 2020 Mâcon La Roche Vineuse Les Cras has a taut and crisp, petrichor-tinged bouquet, backward compared to Merlin's other cuvées but nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a slight menthol tincture, fine acidity with plenty of substance towards the slightly honeyed finish that manages to maintain tension. Excellent. (NM) (6/2022)
