Sang de Pigeon (Pigeon's Blood) is a nod to my former life as a jewellery valuer. It's the trade term for the colour of the finest rubies. This white blend is named 'Blanc de Pigeon' and in the culinary world means Pigeon's Breast, the best meat from the bird.

"I have identified eight extraordinary vineyard sites across the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills and have since pursued my passion for making thoughtfully produced wines, which provoke thought; individual, small batch, elegant wines made with passive interventions and meticulous attention to detail." - Michael Hall

Our notes

The Wine Front
This is Stonegarden Vineyard’s mix of unusual grapes met with some roussanne from the Barossa Valley – some of this sum is skin fermented, all of it matures in barrel. It’s an epic wine. Epic. So much interest, texture, bright flavours, savouriness, chew to the juice, juiciness to the chew. Scents of frangipani, rose water, green apple, flavours around that mark, a little sweet then a lot dry, a touch of marzipan in there, lots of chalkiness. It’s like a great rose mated with an orange wine in bed with a traminer. Sweetness perhaps an irk. Anyways, it’s compelling and delicious drinking.

Producers notes

Originally from the UK, I released my first vintage of Michael Hall Wines in 2008, bringing my wine dream to fruition after two decades of jewellery valuation in Switzerland. From Europe to the Barossa, I took this leap into the unknown, completing wine science at CSU and working stints in Australia with Cullen, Giaconda, Henschke, Shaw + Smith, Coldstream Hills and Veritas; in France with Domaine Leflaive, Meo-Camuzet, Vieux Telegraphe and Trevallon.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
