Marc Bredif Vouvray Grande Annee 1990 is a sublime 100% Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley. Every now and then Marc Bredif releases some library vintages of their top wines. This medium sweet Vouvray is excellent, packed with lots of sweet, honeyed, spicy notes yet with amazingly fresh acidity.

Marc Bredif, with its majestic cellars in the heart of the Touraine, has been one of the most famous Vouvray and Chinon houses since 1893. When Baron Patrick de Ladoucette took over the house in 1980, he breathed new life into the century old winery, while preserving its traditions. Today, Marc Bredif continues to produce Vouvray and Chinon wines of the finest quality. The history of the wines of Vouvray is directly linked to the religious history of Touraine. From the 4th century onwards, the monks owned most of the vineyards, including the best growths. The cellars of Marc Bredif are among the biggest and most beautiful of the appellation and the digging of the Tuffé hillsides to make them began in the 8th century.

The fruit for the Marc Bredif Vouvray Grande Annee 1990 was sourced from the vineyards of Vignes Blanches, Tabourneau and Mialet, growing on the slopes next to the banks of River Loire, in the communes of Vouvray and Vernou sur Brenne. The vineyards enjoy a Northern/Southern exposure. and the soils are mainly chalk clay, with some parcels having flint clay soils. The vineyards are 25-70 years old on average. The grapes are hand picked with two or three successive sweeps through the vineyards in order to select only the ripest grapes or those affected by noble rot. The wine is aged for one and a half years in vats, bottled and then aged the company’s cellars until release.

Our notes

Producers notes

The domaine of Marc Bredif is one of the most famous names in the Loire, renowned for the longevity and quality of his Vouray. Established in 1893 under the name of Chateau les Roches it wasn't until 1919 when Marc Bredif took over from his uncle, that the name was changed to mark the change of ownership. The ethereal Chenin Blanc from Marc Bredif remains a benchmark for the region; delicious, nervy and vividly sketched when young it morphs into an infinitely complex wine with age taking on characters of dried honey, lanolin and valvados, still with that ceramic-like sheen of minerally acidity.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
