Pertimali is one of Italy’s great wine producers, based in Montalcino in Tuscany, and dedicated to crafting Brunello that many commentators agree are some of the best in the region.

The architecture is there holding it all together with oak and fruit tannins competing and providing shape and direction to the dark brooding powerful fruit. Then there are subtitles that come to play the more time you let it breathe and sit with it as brighter toned cherries and strawberries appear and even violet floral touches amidst classic dried herbs, notes of liquorice and tarry/sooty dry minerals. Our notes

Pertimali is one of Italy’s great wine producers, based in Montalcino in Tuscany, and dedicated to crafting Brunello that many commentators agree are some of the best in the region.

I’ve tried this impressive wine on two occasions and although it is still so young the inherent quality and complexity were evident both times. The fruit is quite ripe which is no surprise given the warm and highly regarded 2015 season, but it is never cumbersome or overdone like some wines in the region.

The general consensus is that this 2015 Italian Sangiovese beauty should ideally sit in the cellar for a few years but I found it wonderfully expressive even now. As Gary Walsh says, ‘charismatic, and so good”, and loaded with personality and Italianate character.

Needless to say, it is extremely limited… CR

There’s something ethereal in the nose with flowers, cherries, strawberries & shiitake mushrooms. Full body. Grows on the palate with super tannin & fruit structure. So much berry flavour & round, caressing tannins that fill your mouth. Tight at the end. Needs four to five years to show its true greatness."

"36 months in 33hl Slavonian oak barrels. Grown in Montosoli. It’s fair to say, I don’t know that much about Brunello, but I know what I like.

Forest berries, mint and vaguely antiseptic perfume, dried herbs and flowers, some liquorice and spice. Medium to full-bodied, earthy and black tea tannin lays it on thick, and so beautifully, strawberry and cherry, a subtle chicory-like bitterness, but flush with succulent fruit, coffee bean and thyme, quite ripe, yet fresh strawberry acidity lifts it, and the finish runs long and firm, orange peel and juiciness adding layers of complexity. Charismatic, and so good."

Producers notes

"Always an enigmatic wine, it’s no surprise points are all over the place most years. This is a formidable wine, with layers of both complexities and ‘protection’ in the form of unusually (for Montalcino) aggressive sooty and black-tea tannins, which make it a tardy opener. But. When it blossoms, it is a symphony of flowers, rose and violet, cherry and licorice aromatics and flavours and that omni-present sootiness, dried-herb, earth and coffee grounds. And Sangiovese’s lovely savoury tang."

Shipping

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
