Bright garnet. The darkest and most approachable of the three 2017 Pinot Noirs, Ray-Monde is filled with the aromas and flavours of black cherry, violet, spice and sweet damp earth. Medium bodied with long, fine, silky tannin it is a very "gourmand" wine. Approachable in youth due to the beautiful balance, the tannic presence and quality suggest it should also age gracefully, gaining additional complexity along the journey. JOSH COOPER

From the regenerative farm of Ray-Monde Vineyard comes pinot noir of Joshua Cooper’s bidding. Ray-Monde always puts me in mind of the Rayman video games, for some reason.

Scents of ripe cherry, brambles and undergrowth, sweet manure, truffle, old campfire and wet bark. Savoury as. Flavours savoury too, tannins gummy and late to come into play, the wine finishes a bit short and with a sappy and sooty, smoked meat finish. Dark cherry, dark plum flavours before that, even a touch of espresso and clove in the mix. A darker, earthier release, a bit disjointed at present, the quiet smoky spice element a niggle. Still, a charming wine of grand savouriness on hand.

Producers notes

My wine operation is based around a negociant system, sourcing grapes locally from sensitive growers, with great vineyard sites in the Heathcote and Macedon Ranges regions. This is an exploration of my surroundings through wine, made without artifice, to be a reflection of its place and season. The first vintage was in 2012, with a single barrel of wine made from fruit my parents grew at Cobaw Ridge vineyard. This has since expanded to a more varied range, including historic styles as well as the more experimental and esoteric. As well as working further with my family, my ambition in the coming years is to transition to vineyard establishment. Supplementing the current fruit with what I’ve grown myself.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
