Az Agr Giovanni Rosso is a family-owned estate who have been growing grapes in the Comune of Serralunga d'Alba since the 1890's, including the Crus of Cerretta and Serra. During the 1980's, Giovanni Rosso restructured the vineyards with the aim of producing the best possible wines, and in 2001, Giovanni's son Davide took charge of winemaking, following his own mantra "wine should be a perfect copy of its terroir".
Our notes
Serralunga is renowned for it’s on the edge knife blade Barolo’s but as Gary Walsh notes this is so supple and silky showing beautiful winemaking. There's lifted floral perfume and pure cherry fruit infused in notes of crushed stone and dry minerality, with a touch of herbal character too and spicy anise and pleasing earthy nuances that complement and balance the sweet cherry fruit. Acidity is spot on and the tannins gently shape and guide the extremely elegant palate.
Tasted after a long decant. This is a beautiful Barolo of harmony and grace…! Give it some air and watch it open up for you! CR
