2019 has offered up a delicious vintage of Pinot Noir. The season was characterised by a below average crop load and very early picking date, March 5th and 6th, brought on by the warm conditions late in the growing season. This was the earliest we have ever picked our Pinot. Despite these conditions the vineyard remained healthy with the deep rooted and un-irrigated vines. Bright and fresh with characteristic Gembrook lift, this is a vintage sure to reward cellaring but also delicious now.

Our notes

Sourced from Gembrook Hill planted by Ian and June, in 1983. Gembrook is the coolest, southern most vineyard in the Yarra Valley. Typically there is high rain fall and lots of vigour, countered by hand pruning, shoot thinning and generally working very hard to obtain a balanced canopy in the vineyard. The vines are dry grown and naturally very low cropping. 2018 was an exceptionally dry year. Hand picked. 100% destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts for up to 4 weeks in open fermenters, pressed at dryness and matured in both a selection of new (20%) and old large format French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Drop dead gorgeous Pinot Noir. Shows Gembrook Hill’s trademark gentle touch, light bodied but intense, gorgeously fragrant and pretty with delicate red cherry and cranberry fruit infused with subtle herbal nuances and a lick of oak and structural fine tannin. Fantastic Pinot Noir.. CR.

Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir rarely disappoints.

It presents in its signature transparent way but the complexity is all there and so too is the length. This is an excellent wine. Undergrowth and cranberries, sweet herbs and woodsmoke, ripe cherry and a sourness about the edges. They could trademark this style; they turn it out each year as if it’s easy. A turn of tannin leads you out through the finish. It’s a garden of a wine, well tended, brimming with good health.

Shipping

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
