All the wines are exceptional.James Halliday, The Australian

The wines that make up this terrific value blend could quite easily have been bottled as single-vineyard wines. Balnarring and Tuerong make up the bulk of the blend, with a little whole-bunch Merricks adding lift and complexity. Across the blend, the grapes were sorted then de-stemmed (a small percentage was fermented with 10% whole bunches), and then fermented in concrete using indigenous yeast, with minimal hand plunging and 22 days on skins. The wine was then aged for ten months on gross lees in puncheon, concrete and foudre (5% new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered. The note below sums up this deliciously sappy and juicy Pinot well.

Our notes

Exceptional pinot. Has all the trademarks of a low intervention wine with a slight cloudy appearance due to the fact it is minimally handled and not filtered. The nose takes you in with lovely purity and pinosity highlighting aromas of damp forest floor and rich cherry and spice.

The Wine Front
Wow, this is a great pinot noir. Has an almost electric pulse. Bright, cranberry and pomegranate fruit, taut and fresh, a web of charry-reductive tannins but so judiciously found. Sinew and pucker, wine drawn long, it’s one for the very elemental and savoury pinot lovers. Complex and compelling wine.

Producers notes

Barnaby Flanders was a co-founder of Allies Wines in 2003, with some of the wines made under the Garagiste label. Allies has now gone its own way, and Barnaby has a controlling interest in the Garagiste brand. The focus is on the Mornington Peninsula, and in particular grapes from Tuerong and Moorooduc in the north, with sand-based soils, the brown loam/red volcanic soils of Merricks and Merricks North in the middle, and the red volcanic soils of Red Hill and Main Ridge in the most elevated southern sector. The wines are made with wild yeasts, minimal handling and bottling without fining or filtration.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
