Frankland Estate Franc 2020 - Great Southern
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
Spicy savoury characters with textural tannin. Lifted fresh berries and cherries celebrate the finesse and elegance of this medium bodied cabernet franc. Can be served chilled. A wet spring provided good early vine growth followed by a dry and warmer than average January and February. The summer cooled considerably in early March slowing ripening with the cabernet franc harvest starting on the 17th March and concluding the 26th March. Fruit was harvested in clean and ideal condition.
Winemaker Notes Vines were spur pruned. The grapes were machine harvested. This wine was shallow fermented, aged on lees for 18 months in 500 litre French oak puncheons. Unfiltered and unfined.
This beautiful rendition from Frankland’s Estate’s certified organic Single Vineyard shows more weight than most examples we have tried this year with an abundance of dramatic sweet dark berry fruit infused with the cooling effect of savoury herbs, a tinge of black olive and upright fresh natural acidity. It’s a glorious beauty perfectly expressing all the fragrance, personality and elegance of this wonderful Loire Valley grape variety. CR
