Even Keel Pinot Noir 2018 - Mornington Peninsula
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
Since arriving in our store Polperro wines have found many admirers, especially this beautiful little pinot from the superb 2018 Mornington vintage. It’s cheap enough to serve as guilt free mid week TV drinking, but good enough to place on a fancy dinner table on the weekend. Polperro calls it their entry level offering but we assure you, this is misleading, because it certainly doesn’t taste ‘entry level’.
Polperro owner Sam Coverdale is a pretty down to earth kinda guy, a lovely person, a keen surfer, and a damn good winemaker. He started off as a cellar hand at Tyrells at just 18 years of age, then completed a Business and Winemaking degree before setting off to further fine tune his skills in Spain, Italy and France. On his return he established Polperro in the Mornington Peninsula in 2006. Today the wines are some of the finest [and best value] in a region notorious for inflated prices and hyperbole. They are made with minimal handling, wild yeast ferments, no fining and filtration and predominately old oak inputs. All the stuff we love!
Terrific vineyards, surf beaches and a close proximity to Melbourne mean the Mornington Peninsula is the perfect home for Polperro by Even Keel, and Sam Coverdale and his family.
Having grown up surfing the beaches of northern New South Wales and South East Queensland, Sam started out as a vintage cellar hand at Tyrrell’s at just 18 years of age, before completing degrees in Business from the University of Queensland and Wine Science at Charles Sturt University.
Sam joined Hardy’s, working across several Australian wine regions, then in Spain, Italy and France learning from the likes of Jean-Marc Lafage. Through this technical grounding and experience, Sam developed a strong sense of the wine he loves to drink and make – wine that plays to the strengths of particular regions and is true to the climatic conditions of each vintage.
He established Polperro by Even Keel in 2006 with a view to creating drinkable, balanced and elegant wines that continue to interest beyond the first glass.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
