The 2017 is a beautiful Kiwi Pinot Noir of Character and depth.  Organic and great value.

Dog Point Pinot Noir is one of the icons of Marlborough and for good reason. Ivan and James are maestro’s at producing superb pinot noir and this wine is no exception. Dark red berry and cherry fruits blend seamlessly with dark herbs, earthiness, raspberry liqueur and liquorice elements, all wrapped up a fine-grained tannin and refined structural bow. Pairs exquisitely with all the classic pinot matches like duck and other game birds, red meats and mushroom dishes.

Our notes

We recently tried the 2017 and were very impressed by the quality of this release.  The oak influence has been toned back and there is a beautiful savoury element to this release.  Central Otago might get most of the spotlight when it comes to Kiwi Pinot Noir, but this example from Marlborough puts many to shame...Well worth trying.  Cheers Scott (Feb 2020)

The Real Review
Deliciously fruit pinot noir with plum, dark cherry, anise, spice and nutty oak flavours among the more obvious descriptors. A dense wine with underlying power and obvious potential but dangerously drinkable now. This must be one of Marlborough's most consistently top reds. And it's organic.

GARY WALSH 94 Points One of the top wine producers in NZ for me. There’s a fair amount of reductive char and toasty spicy oak here, aniseed and black cherry, dried flowers and wet earth. It’s medium-bodied, clod earth and toasted spice, dry gravelly tannin, sappy dark fruit, and a firm long finish. Savoury and powerful. Needs a little more time in bottle.

Re-tasted. A very impressive, concentrated, powerful Pinot that needs a bit of air. Density and perfectly ripe fruit. Majestic stuff: this would stand up well beside top burgundy. The Real Review, 29 January, 2020

Huon Hooke

This is very convincing, complex and downright impressive pinot noir. The intense aromas of ripe cherries and plums are framed in such intensely attractive oak spice and earthy, sous-bois complexity. The palate has regal, polished and powerful tannin and carries a vibrant core of very attractive, rich dark cherries. Drink or hold., 5 December, 2019

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
