Regarded as one of the top 5 producers in Beaujolais by the highly respected French Wine Journal 'La Revue du Vin de France', Daniel Bouland's Morgon's are legendary, age-worthy, beautifully crafted high quality Beaujolais's of stunning purity and gentle savouriness that perhaps have closer affinity to quality Burgundies from the Cote d'Or than what most people would expect from Cru Beaujolais.

Bouland's production of this wine is tiny coming from a hectare of 93-year-old vines on the Morgon-Chiroubles border. It is on the dark, brooding side stylistically yet never loses its elegance and poise. It is also hand-harvested from organic fruit, wild yeast fermented on 100% whole bunch, matured in old barrels, and bottled unfiltered.

The end result is an absolutely delicious Gamay that is a stunning drink now yet will give even more pleasure over the next ten years. At this modest price, this wine is a smart addition to any serious wine collectors cellar. Highly recommended!

Producers notes

Producteur des très grande qualité [one of only 5 in Beaujolais at this level] Le Classment 2014

This tiny wine grower of the hamlet of Corcelette (note the first name as there are numerous Boulands in the area!) has seduced us for a few years now with his concentrated and textured Morgons. The fruit weight in no way masks the almost wild minerality of the soil. These wines have an intensity that can only come from old vines that are impeccably cultivated.” La Revue du Vin de France

"It's clear by now that Daniel Bouland is one of Beaujolais's major as well as most consistent talents." David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate

From the Importer:

This wine used to come to us simply as Morgon Vieilles Vignes, without the name of the vineyard or lieu-dit. It comes from a single hectare of 93-year-old vines located on the Morgon-Chiroubles border, at the end of the Corcelette valley in a terroir historically known as Delys. Bouland's vines were planted in 1926 on a southeast-facing slope at 10,000 vines per hectare. As always, this is likely to be Bouland's most age-worthy wine and it is seriously great in 2018. Again very Burgundian in texture but now more brambly, bloody and mineral, with ripe red and blackberry fruit and wonderful, sappy, smoky, nettle-y spice. Super refined and long with the finish offering all kinds of florals and exotic spice. A truly superb Morgon that again demands a Burgundy glass.

Shipping

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
