$42.00: single bottle
$453.60: per case of 12

Low cropped mature vines utilized. Fruit treated with respect, soft destemming, and membrane pressed, so to ensure full ripe tannins not harsh extractive or over worked. Hand plunged to softly extract maximum colour and flavours.

Small open fermenters used to gain maximum complexity between vats.

The wine allowed to go through full natural malo lactic fermentation in oak the summer following vintage, which produces a fuller softer effect.

All wine matures in barriques for 12 to 24 months, with the introduction of 25 to 30% new barriques each year. Not too much new oak so as to let terrior speak and not the barrel.

With minimal handling pre bottling all the red wine is neither fined nor filtered prior to bottling . No acid additions are required, just low levels of sulphur dioxide at point of bottling. Nothing added, nothing taken away.

All this goes back to good cool climate winemaking. Every thing is done so as to promote and preserve the full integrity of our unique vineyards terrior.

Our notes

Another beautiful Cobaw Ridge Syrah opening with dark cherry spice, pepper and lifted florals like withered rose and violet giving it a genuine Northern Rhone feel. The palate is silky fine, lush and generous yet structured and controlled echoing the nose with similar attractive cool climate flavours. It’s a lovely medium bodied Syrah which looks awesome now but destined to live at least another 8 years. CR

The Wine Front
Cobaw Ridge is a certified biodynamic farm, producing a clever range of wines that spans a breadth of styles and genres. Judicious cellar time and bottle ageing seems part and parcel. The winemaking is decidedly hands off. Great humans too. This is a charming, savoury shiraz (syrah!) of beautiful perfume, spice, earthiness, cusp-of-ripeness red fruits and a hustle of brisk, cool acidity. The takeaway message is ‘medium weight red of spiciness and relaxed feel in the palate with a fine trill of tannins to close’. You could close your eyes and be drinking best of northern Rhone, or simply give in to the wines unfettered, herb and spice, red fruit charm. It’s almost on the cusp of rugged pinosity too, in its way. Big love. Cellaring should reward likewise.

Shipping

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
