The nose of this wine reveals notes of flint stone, pronounced aromas of black cherry, raspberry and strawberry on the nose with delicate notes of cloves and smokey accents. Finally, aromas of tree nuts come to complete the ensemble, with hints of hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts. In the mouth, this wine stands out with well-structured tannins that bring a sensation of firmness and presence. Flavors of dark chocolate that provide richness and complexity.

Our notes

The Morgon, as expected,  has a darker and riper fruit profile. There’s an extra level of intensity, a luscious texture but it’s wonderfully balanced by a graphite type minerality and bright acidity. Amarena cherry, blackberry and plums with a delicate earthiness. This was our pick from the three wines that are a blend of sites.

Producers notes

Completed in 1676, Chateau de La Chaize stands as one of the oldest and most historic estates in the Beaujolais region of Burgundy. Louis XIV's chaplain, Francois de la Chaise, financed the project, and the chateau was named after him by his grateful nephew, the original owner.

The architect was Jules Hardouin-Mansart, and Andre Le Notre designed the gardens. Since April 27, 1972, authorities have recognised it as an official historical monument. Cared for by the same Family for nearly three and a half centuries, the estate is now in the hands of the Gruy Family, which is equally committed to managing the estate with the utmost care while implementing an ambitious environmental plan.
