Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV - Champagne
Bottle size: 750ml
The definitive house-style, composed from 30 still base wines drawn from at least three vintages, and the three varieties of Champagne blended in equal proportion: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
Pol Roger Brut Réserve displays a beautiful golden straw coloured hue, as well as an abundance of fine bubbles. With a powerful and attractive nose, it first delivers aromas of green apple and pear developing into notes of honeysuckle and brioche.
On the palate, the wine has a remarkable freshness, whilst preserving a robust structure. Flavours of quince jelly and apricot jam marry beautifully with acacia honey. Notes of candied orange peel and sweet cardamom spice are long-lasting.
Pol Roger is an absolutely first-class Champagne, that just never disappoints. A firm Wine Experience favourite that is perfect as an aperitif, matched with delicate seafood dishes or just for celebrating something special.
One of my favourite champagne houses. This entry point has one-third each of pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay from 30 crus, 25% reserve wines, spending 4 years on tirage. It has a flowery bouquet, terrific mouthfeel thanks to a hint of honey, and Meyer lemon cleansing the finish and aftertaste.

Founded by Pol Roger in 1849 and succeeded by his sons, Maurice and Georges. Fourth generation Christian Pol Roger and Cristian de Billy were succeeded by Hubert de Billy in 2013. The house now owns around 92 hectares, mostly around Èpernay including Grand Crus Cremant, Chouilly and Avize on the Côtes de Blancs and Ambonnay, Bouzy & Verzy on the Montagne de Reims. Generally Pinot dominant, the collection of wines from the Non-Vintage Cuvèes through to the stellar Cuvèe Sir Winston Churchill show consistency of house style and a pedigree that is the envy of many other grand marques.
