Bondar Junto Grenache Shiraz Mataro - McLaren Vale
Closure: Screw cap
Bottle size: 750ml
Picked by hand, the fruit was gently handled in the winery and aged in old French oak. The Grenache comes from up to 44-year old vines, the Shiraz from our 65+ year old vines, and the Mataro from a nearby site. This year's Junto is quite a delicate wine with beautiful aromatics. It shows a restraint not often associated with red wines of our region.
For this reason we used very little Shiraz and Mataro as in larger proportions they would have really dominated the Grenache fruit. We want Grenache to be the hero of this blend, with its superb aromatics and soft juicy mouthfeel.Pale in the glass yet bright red, it has a very pretty nose with red currant, mint and hints of chinese five spice.
The palate is light and snappy, with flavours of sour cherry and raspberry. The tannins are soft and ever so silky, yet the wine is held together by a lovely drying, savoury acidity. Overall a fruitful, delicate wine with a balancing savoury quality, best enjoyed in its youth.
Perfect with Traditional Mongolian Lamb, Irish Stew and Roast Turkey with potatoes, apple stuffing & apple sauce.
We are a little family wine company making wines from our favourite regions McLaren vale and Adelaide Hills. Our home is the iconic Rayner Vineyard in McLaren Vale. We want to make wines that are lighter, brighter, more savoury, structured and intriguing. Different. In August 2016 we were honoured to be named James Halliday's Best New Winery in his 2017 Australian Wine Companion.
Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
