The Castellero vineyard sits just above Cannubi and just below Bussia, so takes a bit of the character of both. There is a deep core of ripe fragrant raspberry, plum and hibiscus, rich yet mobile structured tannins and sleek bright acid. Multi-layered it is perfumed, bold yet nicely elegant, with plenty of depth and some of the classic tar, floral notes on the long finish.

Wine Enthusiast

New leather, camphor, tobacco and fragrant purple flower are just some of the aromas you’ll find on this fragrant, focused red. The delicious palate features juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry, baking spice and truffle while taut polished tannins provide seamless support. Fresh acidity keeps it youthful and balanced. It’s already showing beautifully but will also offer years of pleasure.  (7/2020)

They take a bit of time to come up and deliver perfume, these Barale wines. A bit sullen on opening, and then, up they rise. Castellero sits over the road from Cannubi, on the hill opposite. Importer: David Ridge Wines

Red fruits, blood plum and spice, dried herb, some rose/lavender sage perfume. Fair succulence, some tar and orange peel, powdery tannin, latent perfume and forest floor things, freshness and juiciness to the acidity, and a fine spread of chalky tannin rolls out on the finish. In some respects, a wine that’s perhaps a little difficult to describe accurately, but very good it is. It will be excellent with appropriate bottle age.  Rated : 94+ Points

Producers notes

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)

In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.

The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").

Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.

For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.

Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
