Australia & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show 2019
Class 17, Grenache 2018 or Younger, 95 Points McLaren Vale Wine Show 2019
After following his intelligent comments closely on Winefront we were lucky enough recently to taste through the excellent wines of tiny Mclaren Vale producer Aphelion with winemaker Rob Mack.
Aphelion was founded in 2015 by Rob and his wife Lou and has since then etched out a superb reputation for crafting elegant Blewitt Springs Grenache from gnarly 80 year old bush vines. A labor of love for the duo Rob’s minimal intervention winemaking and gentle touch shines through in this wonderful wine.
However due to recent accolades including 95 Points from James Halliday, this wine has almost sold out, so this is your last chance to secure a case or a few bottles. Yes, quality Australian Grenache, particularly from McLaren Vale continues to impress us.
This is a beauty and drinking really well now!
Straight out of the blocks, this new wine label established in 2014 by husband and wife Rob and Louise Mack has already gained a strong reputation for quality and value. Pedigreed winemaker Rob Mack concentrates on grape varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale, producing stylish Grenache as well as other regionally emerging varieties, such as Mataro and Sagrantino.
They craft their wines to match the foods they love to eat - Italian, Mediterranean, and Asian. It starts with the sun and the earth. Aphelion Wine Co.’s growers are passionate about producing premium, hand tended grapes from only the most select, unique parcels of land.

Delivery is currently free of charge for both straight and mixed cases Australia Wide. (*excludes remote postcodes in WA and NT) (*excludes fundraising orders)
In most instances, a case is 12 bottles, including all mixed cases. Please note that the case quantity can vary between 3-12 bottles, depending on individual wine value and packaging configuration.
The number of bottles that define a straight case is marked in the product pricing page (i.e. "as part of any 6", "single bottle" and "3 or 6 or 12 bottle case").
Where all or part of the order is less than a case (as defined in the product pricing options, or 12 bottles if mixed) shipping will be charged as per your postcode at our cost price, this charge amount will be visible before your order confirmation and payment.
For example, a mixed bottle order of 18 bottles will include a freight charge for the second mixed case of only 6 bottles. A mixed 24 bottle order would be totally freight free.
Our intention is to offer free shipping to as many wine lovers as possible, however, given the geographically vast size of Australia, it is not possible for us to offer free shipping to 100% of postcodes.
