If you were going to try one Pinot Grigio from Italy, this is it. It is highly recommended by te the whole team and outstanding value.
The wines of Antonutti are fantastic, and we love their freshness and delicate texture. This Pinot Grigio from Friuli, near the Adriatic port city of Trieste, is a textbook example of just how blessed this part of Italy is for white wine production. Some say the secret is the location between mountains in the north and the Adriatic sea to the south. A sweet spot of cool nights and warm summer days, perfect for ripening Pinot Grigio and retaining its fresh, natural acidity and energy.
The Antonutti family are quietly going about their business and producing a range of excellent value for money wines that are that are classically Friulian.
Husband and wife team Lino, Adrian with their children Nicola & Caterina have set out on an ambitious project to push their family winery into the top echlon of friuli producers. The estate is located in the friuli Grace DOC where the rivers Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento, which in the course of thousands of years, have deposited enormous quantities of chalky calcium magnesium shelter the vineyards from the bitterly cold northern winds and the adriatic tempers the climate with its close priximity.
The wines are made in a clean, focused style with wonderful ripe fruit and balanced palate. The Antonutti’s are offering fanatstic value for money as recognised by the Gamero Rosso Guide to Vini d’Italia 2008.
